I've had this game for about a day or two, my best advice go on youtube and watch some gameplay, watch tutorials. Sometimes that can help, if you haven't done the tutorials I'd suggest those asap they help a lot. So, Youtube, Skirmish, tutorials best things to help you.

Air unit spam ---> Get AA
Ground spam --> Arty, Air, Good positioning and range
And don't forget your RECON!! It makes a MASSIVE DIFFERENT from advancing and getting destroyed or advancing and destroying.

Take a defensive stance. Force the enemy through a choke-point to get to you. Ideally a concave semi circle, forcing the enemy into a position in which they recieve fire from all forward sides at once. A bridge, or favored road works. The Basic idea is make them come to you.
Eat up as much of their supplies and forces you can before moving to offence.

Most importantly: DESTROY ALL RECON YOU SEE> RECON should be your primary target whenever possible. Once you blind the AI they stall up.

And make sure you have plenty of recon for yourself. Keep some IN your defensive line. And a Recon Helicopter hovering over your defence line helps get a little extra sight out there. But the enemy will try to shoot it down if they can. Just land if you see it coming. (Also a good 2:1 ration of Vulcans to SAMs is pretty good for Anti-Air.)

Also be careful with Artillary, they eat up AMMO FAST! And they do more suppression than straight up killing. If you need precise Strike units I suggest the Fighting Falcon (cluster bomb), the Aardvark (Large Cluster Bomb) or the A-10 Warthog ( they are slow and tough, but can be very deadly on the front line if managed well.) But Air Support takes a bit of exact management. Keep them in freidnly Air-Space until you've stripped out a lot of their air.

But be careful about playing too defensively (in campaign). Ive noticed that if you have 2000 pt victory condition, the eneny will only send 1800 pts of units at you, so you need a fair balance of attacking and defending (campaign), infanrty is awesome, when i started playing wargame i would always choose the big bad mbt, but now i know infantry is extremely useful and powerful.
ALWAYS RECON EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU MOVE
MAKE SURE NOT TO OUTRUN YOUR AA NET
KEEP YOUR UNITS SUPPLIED
those are caps because they are real important, when it comes to aa net, use a couple high end units in the back, a few cheaper missle of spaags in the middle, and manpads scattered about, it took me a while to get the idea of diverse aa net, instead of just sending out a few buks and thinking "i have aa, im good" aa should be layered and mixed.
read the 176 page guide, no not all of it, but you can easily tell whats important.
remeber to have fun! this game is great, the community (for the most part) is awesome, this might just become your favorite game!

Don`t draw if you draw just restart due to the programmers utter incompetence no matter how much you batter your AI opponent in the event of a draw they start the next battle at full strength a starting points at least 50% greater than yours and victory conditions that mean lose a transport and they win...It really is a game where its win or restart they really REALLY didn`t bother with the solo player mode at all

OK, I'm totally confused by this game. Even the tutorial makes no sense to me. I can send my starting tanks out and blow up enemy units well enough until I'm out of ammo - but I'm not doing anything useful as the player.

This is supposed to be an RTS? Can I build units? Where do those controls hide? Can I resupply, repair, or regain morale somehow?

Is there anything useful I can do tactically? Units don't seem to want to stick to cover, just trading punches in the open, brain dead. Am I supposed to be micro-managing units in the first place? If I'm just throwing units in the general direction of the enemy I understand how to do that, but if I'm supposed to take advantage of terrain somehow, I'm not sure how to give orders like "stay in this cover and attack what comes at you in the open".

Or is that just silly, because killing the enemy's ability to build units somehow is what matters?

to many questions, i think you have a fundementally flawed concept of this game, read (or skim) the 200 page guide (under guides)
but you dont build units, you buy them with command points, you get these from having a command vehivle (cv) in a sector, then you buy from the deployment menu. also tanks run out of ammo and need to be resupplied, also recon is absolutely critical in this game. After you read some of the guide and play around a little, feel free to ask me specific questions. This game is awesome once you get the hang. Also add me if you want and if im playing i will play with you
