Hi Dean0null,
For the folders issue I've already fielded it here in this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/222710/discussions/0/846959179217051457/ Everything I said in that thread can apply to you. Just send me a friend invite. Personally, I have a small System OS drive myself 80GB, I move the additional content manually and change the folder paths.
The SI-Set actually has multiple kit sounds. Left click on the default.prog. You'll see a selection list pop up. The SI-Kit is a fundamental drum kit synth though, if you want really expansive and customizable kits you'll likely want to invest in a dedicated drum synth. Otherwise you could insert 2 instances of SI-Drums and have MIDI content trigger different kits. In my recording experience I've found there's a few ways to skin a cat.
You'll need to use Sound Center with the expansion packs, but they are triggered in exactly the same way as SI-Drums. Via MIDI data in the track/matrix/step sequencer.
You'll want to start delving into MIDI CC notes and the other expression features of that format. If you click the Right facing triangle in the Step Sequencer you'll see a bunch of controls exposed.
Do you know if it will work with this program? I kind of want to mess around with recording drums, keyboards, etc. before I invest in a midi controller since I have no music experience. Is there a way to record by clicking on the virtual instrument buttons or by using a PC keyboard? I've only been able to create anything by adding each note one at a time via mouse clicks so far.
That MIDI controller should work.
You can use your mouse to trigger VST instruments via the Step Sequencer under Views > Step Sequencer. You can also sequence via the Views > Piano Roll or Views > Staff.
For triggering via your computer keyboard, this is not implemented natively. Check out this free app though: http://vmpk.sourceforge.net/
