The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles

Yet another frustrating bug in Linux
I have started playing twice now, and after a few hours of frustrating in-game challenges (like), I save to come back later. Each time, there is no save, so I have to restart from the beginning. Yesterday I had gotten through to Chapter 3 before calling it a night. but I now have no restore point.

Nothing in the ~/.boutvc/bout.log to indicate a save game issue, and nothing in my terminal window (launched manually) to indicate an issue. The ~/.boutvc/savegames/ directory has full read/write permissions, but remains empty.

This game uses a different location for saved games.. My saves are stored in ~/Steam/userdata/<userid>/221830/remote/. My ~/.boutvc/savegames/ is also empty. Not sure why the directory is even created.

Interesting. I don't have anything for boutvc under my ~Steam/userdata/<userid>/ directory. Other game stuff, but not anything bout related.

221830 is the game's directory. The .ksg files are stored under 'remote'. There is nothing in the directory or file names that suggests 'bout'.

I guess what I meant was that the directories I have in ~Steam/userdata/<userid> are for other games, not 221830 (I'm assuming this is the Steam game ID for boutvc). What I do have is:

In reality, I don't see a directory for most of my games here, but I assume not all games use this directory.

Still, my earlier post is valid. I have NO saved games for this expansion. I did manage to finish the game, but only after I noticed that the chapters would be unlocked as I either entered or finished them (I'm assuming the former - didn't check this).

Glad you were able to finish the game. Presumably the inability to save games is tied to the missing directories. It is probably moot now but you could try to re-install and see if that creates the directories. Or just walk away. :)

I also have this issue. I only have the demo at the moment, but why should I buy the full game, if I can't even get the demo to work correctly?
I can save games, and when I try to load what I just saved, it crashes.
Otherwise, if I just quit the game normally and go back in, the saves are missing.

Another issue I have is that the game crashes when I click on settings. Apparently this can be fixed by recompiling some OGRE library, but I haven't tried that yet.
