Tested OS is Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit.

The game (at least the demo) doesn't start, because it assumes 1) gksudo is installed 2) the user that runs Steam is in /etc/sudoers 3) that I would give some game script the go to run with root privileges on my machine 4) that 32-bit libs are installed through a package called ia32-libs on a 64-bit system, which is not the case on any modern distribution.

The executable is also not properly linked with DT_RUNPATH and $ORIGIN, which is why the game needs a startup script with LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the first place.

Thanks for the demo. Bad Linux port. Would not buy.

Works fine for most even if they have to do a startup script, the main game (this is a standalone expansion) is one of the best games on Linux full stop in my opinion. Your really missing out if your too lazy to fix it. They are making a second one and I am sure the port will be much better, they are a very small, very busy team.

It works just fine for me: 64-bit 13.10 Kubuntu with MATE, nVidia 650 ti, 16 GB RAM.

"Your really missing out if your too lazy to fix it."

First of all it's "you're" not "your", smartypants.

Plus, I am not too lazy. As you can see from my initial post I even looked into what the problems are. I am totally capable of "fixing" this in a matter of minutes. But I don't want to. I do not buy broken products just to fix them myself. You wouldn't buy a car that you need to fix before you can drive it, would you?

And last but not least, I didn't write this comment to get your oppinion but to give the developers a hint. Assuming they even read in the Steam forums, which seems unlikely.

Just a little quote from the developer King Art Game from the kickstarter comments regarding linux support:

"As there is no official Linux version of BoUT1 or Critter Chronicles, we don't know what you're talking about in regards to Linux."

So maybe the publisher Nordic Games can help you with further support:

One more quote from KING Art Games from the kickstarter comments:

"Regarding Linux there's been a misunderstanding: I didn't know we made a Linux version, so I said there is none. Sorry about that, my fault and not that of KING Art."

One more quote:

"Just so noone misunderstands my last post: There are Linux versions of BoUT1 and The Critter Chronicles and there will also be a Linux version of BoUT2."
