It's cheap as well, so I don't see why people use other controllers, in my experience there's nothing better, and I've tested other brands such as Logitech as well
Somehow even smaller developers were always able to ensure gamepad-support for every gamepad i ever owned before xbox controllers were around. For some reason developers today think configurable controls are not worth the minimal effort, which is sad.
Why is it that ports from playstation or Wii don't require Sony or Nintendo controllers? Because Microsoft wants you to buy their ♥♥♥♥ and will make sure nothing else is working .. I'm not gonna bore you with the details.
I have several good Gamepads already and I'm not going to buy a new one just because Microsoft is trying to force me into it.
My question remains, can i play this with a non-xbox controller?
However a friend of mine managed to play a game with an external programm to play with a PS3 controller, but he said it's really tricky. I may ask him, but he's really busy right now, so i give you his steam nick name: "B.I.E.R. Scorechar".
I am well aware that the developers can't know what kind of gamepad i am using. But simply letting people configure the controls on their own is not hard to implement! Even external programs that dont even know what program i'm running or what gamepad i'm using can do this!!
So can anyone please just answer my question??
Thank you very much :)
I always use it on my steam games to use my dual shock with usb adapter: it' easy to use and configure also...
The 360 interface should be a standard. Other manufacturers should have to conform with their button types and communicate with Windows in the same way. Add extra buttons, switch the layout around, whatever - but the 360 buttons should all be present and work the same way. That would allow for people to pick a design they liked, while maintaining compatibility with pretty much every controller-supporting game out there.
The Mac interface should be a standard. Other manufacturers should have to conform with their hardware types and communicate with Apple in the same way. Add extra hardware, switch the software around, whatever - but the Mac hardware should all be present and work the same way. That would allow for people to pick a design they liked, while maintaining compatibility with pretty much every computer game out there.
I think you know this is bullsh** ...
If other parties started using the same interface, you'd have instant compatibility with all the buttons, and vibration. You could have a different layout, different manufacturers could make/label them, stick the thumbsticks on the bottom and make the triggers into foot pedals for all I care - but the way it communicates with the PC on a driver-level should all use the one standard to ensure compatibility without developers needing to program for and test every controller on the market.

There is no need to make xbox controller the standard! Why is that so hard to understand?
