Cloud Saves not working?
I've installed this game on OSX first and discovered the framerate sucks, so I went into windows and installed. But my savegame did not carry over as it should (isn't that what Steam Cloud is all about?) Is there a way to manually transfer my savegame? I'd like to continue playing where I left off (2 hours into the game) instead of starting from scratch.

Did you by any change find a solution for this? I noticed the same thing.

Make sure the game closed properly, use task manager to shut the game down, then the cloud should work.

I couldn't get it working at all, but I managed to fix it by grabbing the savegames from OSX and copying the entire folder to the savegame folder in Windows.

I believe the directories are something like this:
OSX: User/Library/Application Support/Doublefine/TheCave/ ###### (bunch of numbers)

grab the entire number-folder.

WIN: Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Doublefine\TheCave or something.

You should be able to find it.

Thanks Octop, nice find!

But I think that kind of defeats the purpose, it should be without trouble that you can leave the game and just pick-up where you left off on another machine. I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of finding a thumbdrive, find the folder, copy, etc. etc.

I did shut the game down properly, but no dice. Just starts as if it was a new game.

Certainly so, but if you started a game on OSX and don't wanna play through two hours of gameplay to get to the same point, it's a solution. But thus far, I've had no luck either, m'fraid

Hi there.

Same Problem here. Started on my Macbook Pro with the game, and wanted to continue on my Gaming PC on Win7. Tried several things except the proposal from Octop, as I can´t find the folders you´ve mentioned on OSX. Probably they are hidden, but I didn´t find the option to unhide the folders as I did it on Win7.

However - as the game is officially Steam Cloud supported it should work without manually saving the stuff.

When I saved and closed the Game on OSX, Steam showed for some seconds that the game is synchronizing. After that I´ve shutdown Steam, and it also showed a message that it´s synchronizing with Steam Cloud.

So after starting the game on Win7 it should take over the save games from OSX but it doesn´t.

Steam Cloud for the game is enabled on both machines... so still something seems to be wrong, or it´s just a bug?!

Anyone else here, where Steam Cloud is working between OSX and Win7?

I got kind of same problem. Steam cloud works fine between windows machines. But trying to continue my game on linux is just like starting a new game.

The same here: continuing on Linux a game started on Windows doesn't work. Starting point ingame and cave paintings are not there, the game starts anew.

We don't currently have cross platform syncing with steam cloud. You can manually move the files as stated earlier in the thread though and they will work on a different OS.

Too bad it doesn't work across plattforms. Any plans for that, or should we stick to the workaround?

Thanks for the answer, DFJustin. What's the path to which to copy the savegame files on Linux?
It does seem to work!

I'd also really like to know if there are any future plans to make Steam cloud go cross platform. That would be an awesome feature! Not only that. It will become a 'selling point' with all the cross platform plans there are fot Steam.
