60FPS ARE WE THERE YET?!
I really want to buy The Cave, but 30fps is gamebreaking for me since i'm cursed with really sensitive eyes, to the point of not only being painfully aware of it, but to also trigger motion sickness after a while. (Not to mention how stupid i would feel paying for 30fps locked PC games in 2013...)

So where are we on this matter? The last thing i know is that they promised a fix sometime in February.

I guess not. I will refrain from this purchase as well.

I guess it's normal to see around ~200FPS with our own eyes (ok, I read that somewhere). However The Cave just works fine and smooth for me. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to see the lock removed. But *only* if this doesn't do regression to performance. The Cave's engine takes very little resources from my PC, which is nice. -- Also, think about movies, 'The Hobbit' 48FPS HFR, wohoo. And LOTR we all saw in 24fps or 25fps back in the day. I'm saying this because The Cave is an adventure game. How many FPS did the engine of Monkey Island draw? Maybe 10? -- Again, don't get me wrong, I would love to see this lock removed, but only without any regressions and just for technically reasons. Visually it doesn't really matter that much with The Cave. I would 100% agree though, that it does matter a lot with games like Brütal Legend.

We'll be removing the cap in the future, though it's not going to be a fast process. We just recently got the capabilities to upgrade, due to our work on Brutal Legend, and we're still ironing the kinks out. Once we have those worked out and available programmer time, we'll go through our old catalog and remove the cap as we are able.

Will that apply to Iron Brigade?

I sure hope so. That'd be rad!

Well this 30FPS caps is very annoying, controls misbehave because of this and because this this is a platform game it makes the game difficult to play: you feel a lot of lag on the input jumps are difficult to do, character control is very imprecise.

I read the other topic where it's explained that this is a limitation of the game engine but come on ! This problem appears since sevreal games already, which means dev team was aware of this problem even before beginning coding the game. I don't understand why this problem wasn't solved BEFORE beginning coding the game.

It's very sad because the game looks quite funny and entairtaining and should desserve that people buy it but I must recommend not to buy it because of this.

Almost one year and nothing?

I wasn't even aware of this problem. Is it really noticable? I am considering buying this game at the moment, but if it's noticable to the point where it gets annoying, then I'll pass.

How are you with just a TV show? At 24Fps it can't be nice. Also I worked in Optical Healthcare for the best part of 6 and half years- the human processes at 25Fps- it can see at 200fps but it processes at 25fps; hence why consoles aim for 30fps and pc gamers aim for 60fps- I feel it improves my reaction time but really the brain does work like that.

It is still on my list of games to play. I just wont play it while it has this ridiculous 30 fps cap. If I had known this game had an fps cap before I would never bought it. It served as a lesson to me. Doublefine will never see money from me again as long as these caps stay in place.

I really hope this gets fixed, in both the cave and stacking... :(

Ok I went ahead and chanced it anyway since nobody could give me a straight answer, and while I've only played for 30 minutes so far, I have not noticed a single issue with framrate as of yet. That may change, but it hasn't been noticible as of yet anyway.

Right. Beat the game twice now, seeing 6 out of the 7 storylines. I didn't notice anything fps wise. It all ran smooth as silk for me.
Glad I decided to take a chance with it. Great little game, albeit a bit on the short side.

Hi, Justin,

It has almost been a year since you posted this. Will the cap ever be removed from The Cave and Stacking? I own both but have not spent much time with them due to the nauseating effect the cap has on me.
