Using Uplay?
Is "3rd-party DRM: Uplay" on the storepage correct? If so, this is pretty disappointing, uPlay consistantly causes issues, and also, makes me uncomfortable with purchasing the game and additional content, as in the past, I have had titles disappear from my uplay account with the activation codes not working again.

I don't know...I mean I have UPlay because of Far Cry 3, but also on Uplay you can find Rocksmith 2014 on there as well....so there's a good chance for it using it unfortunately. Almost all of Ubisoft's games are starting to use Uplay so I guess it's gonna be something we're gonna have to deal with =/

Guess i'll stick to the original game then, I really don't want to deal with that client in a full priced game

I haven't had any issues with Uplay personally, but I've heard many and many people saying that they've experienced so many issues. So I really don't blame you to be honest. It's just the Jam Session Mode and a few of the base songs that are really making me want to get it.

Yeah, I had a retail copy of one of the AC games, it randomly disappeared from my account , Steamworks is most likely a pre purchase

I wonder how they are going to transfer all DLC's from previous RS from Steam to u(NO)Play.

So do I. If it was a pure Steamworks game it would make sense, but I assume that all the save data would be in the Steam folder, this game including. If they do it like that, then it would most likely have an Import option and it'll will scan the folder where the DLC is located and then import the DLC into the 2014 edition. Of course this is just me taking an educated guess.

I took a glance at the 2014 edition, and that Uplay does kinda make me worry. Playing FarCry 3 Blood Dragon wasn't too bad, but it's still another program that I have to add on to my CPU's load just to be able to LAUNCH my games. I don't like that.

The visual change and new feature addons look pretty interesting though, and if the list of songs is good, I might get it when it eventually goes on a sale.

Oh, exploitable!

I owe only 2 games on uPlay: Anno 2070 and FC3:BD (also got AC2's but never launched them). Blood Dragon failed to start a couple of times, also despite my grind 5 achievements are never unlocked, even if I did them twice, loading from older save. uPlay is pile of crap, just like an Origin. Big publishers need first to copy Steam functionality and them make exclusives for their systems.

If you say Origins is a pile of crap you have never used. 100% better then the slow clunky steam we are using today.

I'm not excited about requiring UPlay, and also not excited that it's $60 without the cable. That just seems crazy expensive.

there is absolutely no excuse for uPlay on this game and it is a serious turnoff. I really hope they reconsider

Man that's too bad, I'll have to pass on this then.

only the people who buy the product still. they know by now that 3rd party DRM hurts sales. I went from "sorry babe, gotta buy rocksmith in october" to "♥♥♥♥ that game" after reading 1 line in the store page.

last year it was found to contain a rootkit[www.forbes.com] and while they patched the potential exploit from outsiders, it seems they still want the malware to be a part of the uplay package. That DRM is not to be trusted.

That DRM is not to be trusted.

Kind of funny when youn type that DRM is no to be trusted and do it on steam community :D

But ya. I dont like uplay either and hope that it would dissappear from there.

Those additional publishers self-made DRM software are totally ♥♥♥♥. I dont like em in any case. Makes example gaming on other platfrom pretty much pain in the ♥♥♥, example wine under linux.

I think they are going to force you to use Uplay to combat certain sites like Smithyanvil
Rather than do sneaking patches to defeat them
