Just out of a curiousity and to add nothing valid to the thread. You are planning on playing out of external speakers I hope. =O
I've been playing on laptop (core i3, so not super great), routed through an AV receiver using an HDMI cable. As expected, there is some noticeable lag (I'd say around 1/2 to 1 second) between picking a note or strumming, and getting a registered 'hit'. I haven't played around with the settings to see if there is a way to reduce the lag. If you play to the rhythm rather than the visuals, it seems to go alright. I haven't tried it on my main PC yet to see if there is a big difference between that and the laptop.

One thing I did notice today is that the sound coming out of the speakers when I was just playing between songs seemed a little slow. I was doing eighth strumming, and the song just seemed....slower. I don't know if it is processing, or the fact it is routed through the AV receiver, but compared to going direct through an amplifier, it is definitely slightly off. That all said, am I disappointed with the game? No. Compared to the previous version, it is quicker, easier to follow, and is more developed. The Chordead training in particular is great. As a relative novice in terms of guitar playing, I found two goes at this training has already sped up my finger positioning for power chords. So as long as you can adapt to a slight lag (which may be able to overcome anyway), I'd certainly recommend the program. Hope this helps!
I have i5 core, ge force gts 360m,4 gb ram, EAX advanced hd 4.0 planning to play just with laptop, is It good option? Also I have older external speakers...

I haven't had any issue playing with my laptop, I just end up using external speakers or headphones to play though...
I play on my desktop. 8 core 4.0mhz AMD, my laptop, i7 3.1mhz,675m both through HDMI straight to the tv with no problems. My niece plays on a lower bare bone i3 and plays on the laptop with external powered speakers with no problems.

Laptops are no different if they meet the standard requirments. Yours is a bit older of an i5 but should be fine. 4 gig of ram should be enough but just close programs if you see visual lag, i doubt youll see any audio lag besides the milliseconds that are naturally there for everyone.
I play with an Alienware M14x and I don't have any lag while playing the guitar.
The only thing that I notice is that there was some lag between the songs and the notes displayed.
It was because the graphics quality (e.g. AA, etc.) but it doesn't make any sense because I'm playing BF3 on full settings... Anyway I solve this problem setting all the advanced graphics off. But don't worry about that because there are not a big difference.
alienware R1 M18x runs like a dream.
2011 era MacBook Pro runs very well, no glitches at all so far.
BTO Notebooks laptop:
i7-3840QM CPU@2.80GHz processor
32 GB RAM
Win7 Ultimate SP1 on an Intel SSD and programs on 2x1TB hybrid HDD (Raid 1)
Video: GeForce GTX 680M
Resolution: 1920x1200
Audio: onboard Realtek, analogue output (headphone/speakers in 2.1 mode)
(Rocksmith 2012 config: all eye candy turned on, max performance audio settings -> no lag)
Rocksmith 2014 configuration: all eye candy turned on, default audio settings.--> slight lag
Rocksmith 2014 configuration: all eye candy turned off, default audio settings.--> no lag
It should be possible to improve the eye candy/audio settings without lag but thats for later.... too eager to explore the session mode first
2011 Macbook air, works great
Hardware: http://www.sony.de/product/vaio-e-serie/vpceb1s1e-bj
Rocksmith: had to tweak Rocksmith.ini but overall the lag was unnoticable when played on external speakers with analog cable connection
Rocksmith 2014: stock options, no lag at all on external speakers with analog cable connection

In both cases the graphics quality was set to medium. With 2014 I turned off the MSAA.
i have an i5 6gb ram. not sure of the graphics card but it runs great. I also use headphones. There's no lag in the sound per say but I have to play the note a little earlier so it registers. Can't really explain it. Maybe that is lag... I don't know. It doesn't affect my playing.
I'm running a i73610QM with 8GB RAM. NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. Runs great with all the bells and whistles. No lag. It has Skull Candy speakers which sound great, but I just use a wireless headseat.
Haven't used Rocksmith 2014 on it, but I used to play the first Rocksmith on an Alienware M11X r1 (1,3GHz Core2Duo & GeForce GT335M). Had a extra monitor connected (due to it being an 11inch netbook), the sound went to a receiver. Used it for multiplayer. No more lag than running it on my i7 3770k desktop.

I am going to test RS2014 on that old netbook soon I hope, multiplayer rocks (especially when the other is just as bad as I am).
Settings in max, no lag, none in RS1 either. Once my computer lagged hard but that was more a everything lagging issue rather than just sound
