I need some help
I am relatively new to the game, and completely new to the guitar, and have been trying to get down some of the techniques in lessons before tackling a lot of the more difficult songs. So far, two things I have really had trouble with in lessons are the bends and muting notes even though it seems easy. I was just wondering if anyone has a really good youtuber or something that can show how to do some of these basic things a little bit better than rocksmith does for me.

I would say mix it up. Bends and mutes are difficult. Have you tried the guitarcade and a few songs? Come back to the lessons ever few weeks...don't get stuck on anything at the beginning...just keep trying new things.

Yeah that would probably help. I had this on Xbox for a good bit so i have a bit more experience than just the 8 hours i have on steam. I have been trying to ignore mutes and bends, but i really need to try them out. Thanks for the help though, I'm going to attempt to try out the guitarcade soon.

The lessons hold a lot of good stuff . Bends and hammer ons and stuff are "Techniques" You will not just get them in 8 hours. It is 75% of playing guitar . Give your self some time and go to them every day for at least half of your playing time . have fun

Also the bends lesson is really picky about the bends you are doing. For most of them you have to hit the note for a fraction of second first then bend the string. It took me ages to get a pass on that lesson :-(

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the help, and will be sure to try it out some more.

Just find a song you like and play it. The most important thing is that the guitar is set up as good as you can get it. I have never gotten it perfect. I have better luck with the pickup near the strings without the pickup ever touching the strings. The tuning must be near accurate on each fret. Sometimes I need to tune the string where the tuning is accurate at the fret that is picked most during the song or lesson. The course always shows us our weakness so we usually strive for perfection. That makes us better.

Bending notes are tricky as stated above. For the lessons... The trick is that you have to first hit the "unbent" note and then bend at the same speed and to the same pitch that the practice track wants you to bend it to.

If you do not hit the "unbent" note, then it will not register any of the bend.

On the speed and pitch.... When you look at the virtual fret board...

The game will move the rectangle on the fret to where you should bend the string to....

When you play the string it will highlight and show on on the virtual fret board where it hears you bending the note to. You have to match the two. If the string does not highlight, then you did not hit the unbent note.

Now, on songs.... some songs have "Pre-Bent" notes. So you have to bend to the right pitch first then play the note and unbend it... but that is a skill to work on later.

Agree... to be honest, when I play songs, I bend until it sounds right to me, sometimes that may not match exactly what RS is calling for but I am trying to make a pleasing sound more than scoring points.

Thanks for the vivid explanation, I think my problem was I wasn't hitting the unbent note beforehand, other than that I'll just have to work on speed and pitch.

I have found that if I use the neck pickup, R doesn't recognize that I'm playing the correct notes. But if I select the bridge, all is well. If I use both, its hit or miss if it recognizes the note. This has been my experience for regular notes, not bends, but it might apply as well.

it's taken me awhile to get both the bends and the muting. I"m still having some issue with palm mutes, especially where you need to mute then not mute then mute.... I think the more you practice the better you will bet at these.

Bends, muting, hammer ons and offs are just... extremely time consuming from my expierence. They're really hard to learn to do at first and even when you know what you are suppose to do they are hard to time in the game.
