Debian doesn't have steam in their repository's yet and the steam.deb from valve won't install because of libc6 2.15 which Debian also doesn't have. That link has everything required....

Steam on Debian
Hello. Has anyone had succes on Stable Debian with NVIDIA?

If so, could you describe the steps you did?
I tried but it has driving me nuts, old packages that could not be updated without a lot...
To be fair, that was not caused by being on Debian Testing, but by admin (your) mistake. It could have happened on Stable as well. :)...
There's your problem - Debian Stable. Upgrade to Unstable if you want it to work easily....

Mint Debian
I have a great problem here in Mint Debian.
I will paste here my output, however I have polish locale - sorry about that. I will translate the most important parts.

So the problem... -applet2-0 libphonon4 libpolkit-gtk-1-0 libpulse-mainloop-glib0 libpulse0 libpurple-bin libpurple0 libreoffice-gnome librpm3 librpmbuild3 librpmsign1 libsdl-image1.2 libsdl1.2debian libsmbclient libsystemd...
Seems that your mint debian uses weird repositories. The default wheezy repo can not be active. It would be
# Debian wheezy
deb" > wheezy main contrib non-free
... -src" > wheezy main contrib non-free

# Debian wheezy Updates
deb" > wheezy/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src" > wheezy...
I solved that problems.
I've changed repos

My new repos are:

deb" > testing main non-free contrib
deb-src" > / testing main non-free contrib

deb" > stable main non-free contrib
deb-src" > stable main non-free contrib

Steam on Debian 7.0 Wheezy
How do I go about installing steam on Debian Wheezy? I understand the consequencies of introducing an Ubuntu package into plain Debian, including the version of libc6 that Ubuntu has, Debian doesn't... perfectly and clean in a completely customizable environment that Ubuntu doesn't give me? The only reason I don't go with Ubuntu over Debian is that I can't install my own window manager or use the console...
-porting" and "slotting". Technically, it's possible, but it's some kind of pain in the hole, and I doubt Debian mainteiners will go for that just because of a single proprietary gaming package. Debian... is famous for its staying away from various weird experiments. For them we already have Ubuntu. But you still can mix Debian's branches, that's actually how steam works on wheezy....
it for you...
