Library sorting
I have purchased many games over the years.. and it would be great to be able to arrange them by purchase date, genre, release date, ect..

Yes, it would be great. However, Valve is busy working on hats and badges, so don't expect it to be implemented before 2030.

EDIT: Sorry, it's 2040. Valve doesn't know the number 3...

Do you do anything other than just Valve hate on the forums?
You can manually categorise your games; that's what I've done. I did it by genre which makes my library organised.
True but it's not quite the dynamic feature that seemed to be asked for (if I understand your suggestion well)

Once you do setup your categories, it will be easier to add games to it thereafter. I did it with all my games, and I think the results have been promising. It would be nice if Valve introduced a similar feature, but the problem is that certain games belong in more than one category: where should the system sort the games then? I say a vast majority of games are now marketed under different genres, so categorising them is difficult.
That and also you might wanna sort by release date, Achievements rate or whatever else bizarre sort you can't quite manage with categories, and even less easily switch from one to the other (because you might want to sort to help you find something better occasionally and then switch back to the globally more readable setting)

You make it sound more complicated than it really is! :D
Maybe I'm doing it wrong then:D

He has just got some other/more ideas for categorizing or sorting than you do, it seems.
There are lots of imaginable categorizing methods you just cannot do with what Steam offers.
And AFAIK, sorting cannot be done at all.
If you're content with what Steam offer, fine, but much more would be possible.
I would be very happy to see any type of sorting method compared to what we have now. The catagories have to be managed manually and are hardly a sorting tool.

Pretty much every game has tags as to their genre and/or capabilities (single and multi-player, etc.) look at any store page for any game in the right column. Wouldn't be too hard for Valve to make some sort of sort by genre, capability, etc.

I'm happy with the category system at the moment, but options would be nice.

What I would really really like to see, is for Steam to not pause downloads when playing a single-player only game. I can understand if I want to play TF2, you may not want to be downloading an update while playing online... but if I'm playing, for example, Fez I really don't care so much if I'm downloading in the background.
