Feature Request: Option to limit bandwidth
There are times when you don't want Steam to hog all your bandwidth when downloading updates so I suppose this feature is a must..

This is a little old now, but +1 all the same. A lot of these games are real big, and interfere with regular internet use on more limited connections like my own. Would be great to have an option in settings that allowed us to set a rate limit, maybe also add a check box in the downloads window itself to toggle the throttle on and off as needed.

I don't mind it taking a few days to download some of the larger games I own, and would like the option to cap the rate of data coming to me from Stream. Would keep my ISP from complaining and allow me to watch streaming videos and update my system without always having to pause the game downloads while I do so.

please listen to blitzbite, thats a MUST HAVE-Feature.
Just because Steam downloads very very fast (you did a excellent job on you serverfarm, +1) but you cant do anything online while downloadig on Steam with 1MB/s+

There is a Download-Tab in the Steamlibrary which is useless, its only to watch your downloading bar goes from the left to the right side of the bar. i mean yeah its very interessting (not really) to watch my downloads but a feature like bandwith limits would make much more sense there.

The option to change your download speed that Steam currently has isn't sufficient why?

Since my last comment, the client has gained simple b/w throttling. Maybe some users have not seen that option yet, its under Settings, Download, Limit…
