Upgrading Nvidia eVGA 550ti to 700 series card

Is it still a pain to do this? I remember a few years ago having to make chages to the X.org file on version 7 or 8 of Ubuntu when upgrading. I think I'm runing 12.04 right now. Is the process much easier now or will I have to gedit the X.org file at all?

When I moved from a 7950 to a 210 all I did was plug it in and boot. I don't remember doing anything more than that.

I don't think the xorg.conf file is used for much other than optional configuration settings these days.

Yes you don't even strictly need an xorg.conf these days.

Thanks, it's been years since I used Linux, started on Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 5.10. I just recently started using it again with Ubuntu 12.04. I guess things have changed a lot since then; things are much easier now.
