Does CrossfireX Work
I'm going to be building my first PC in the coming months and may be able to snag two sapphire radeon 5750's for rather cheap. I inteded to use them both in tandem but I've read that some people have had issues with crossfirex under Linux, namly only one card being used. Do any/all current Linux games on steam utilise both cards if you enable such?

Forget it, if you are lucky it does not get slower, but with games like Serious Sam 3 it is slower with 2 cards with CF. Buy 1 nvidia card, do NOT buy AMD.

Kano forgot to mention SLI is not working either.

What's exact price? It's possible one fresh single GPU for that price may be faster.

Oh, for AMD vs NVIDIA flame: do NOT listen people who tell you buy nVidia card. nVidia is very slow in fixing actual bugs. For example crash that not resolved for half-year https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/524502/linux/frequent-freeze-crash-of-xorg-with-drivers-310-19-with-gts-250-on-3-2-0-4-amd64/
With AMD if you have problems with one driver - you may choice another. Both of proprietary and FOSS drivers for Radeon HD is developed by AMD. Compare this situation with nVidia - nVidia provide only proprietary driver, doesn't provide documentation and doesn't help at all to nouveau (FOSS driver for GeForce) developers. And they doesn't fix crashes on proprietary driver for half year.

CF and SLI are trouble even under windows. Get one powerful card and you save yourself a big headache. Even if we forget this, there's not a single linux game at the moment that needs CF or any kind of high-end hardware.

For Serious Sam 3, you can try cvar
(or =n, depends how many GPUs you have crossfired)
This just might help.
