[SOLVED] Steam segmentation fault

Hello everyone,

I recently upgraded from ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 and after a while steam began to crash randomly, it sometimes crashes at start, sometimes when I open the properties of a game and sometimes it doesn't crash at all. Starting steam from terminal gave this output, this was a crash at start but the error message is for every crash the same:

I already tried reinstalling steam and my video drivers (I have the fglrx drivers installed) but that didn't help.

Have you tried erasing completely the steam folder before reinstalling?

Yes, I did. sadly that didn't do the trick.

Weird, when I run steam through console I get the same errors, but I don't have any crashes.
I also get a bunch other errors and warnings related to pipelight and wine at end of input. 13.10 32bit here.

Maybe you should post this at the main forum, it has a lot more visibility than here. I'd also try using the opensource driver to see if it makes any difference, it amazes me how better it is these days compared to fglrx.

Thanks, I didn't know that the opensource one was actualy better now than the fglrx one. Will try. Also when you are getting errors about wine, you are probably running the windows version of steam right?

Apparently the proprietary drivers are buggy.
