Amd drivers or openGL
Hi all I have been using linux for awhile now and was wondering if the proprietary drivers would be better. My graphics card is a AMD radeon HD 7340. So wondering would that help run games a bit better or should I just stick with the opengl drivers? Currently the opengl drivers are version 3.0. So wondering if using the proprietary drivers would help?

The catalyst is the pain in the ass to install. I use open-source driver as it reached the catalyst and even have been overtaken that in terms of performance. Also, the latest mesa3d (11.0) has OpenGL 4.1 support.

Ah Ok how do I download the latest opengl drivers then since the linux version i'm using comes with opengl 3.0. According to what I ahve found the graphics card supports up to opengl 4.4

OpenGL 4.1 is only available for radeonsi for now, which only drives GCN cards. Your card has an older chip and is therefore being driven by r600, so you are stuck on OpenGL 3.3 (look at the core profile version!)
