Serious Sam 3 Linux Performance.
I was wondering how SS3 performed on a standard 64 bit linux distro. How does it compare to windows?

So far I haven't been able to work out my driver issues to get it to run at all. You should try it and let us all know.

Played through pretty flawlessly on Arch 64 (Nvidia blob, GTX 460, X4 965 @3.82). As did Jewel Of The Nile. The odd graphical glitch which didn't affect gameplay and may have been ironed out now with updates anyway. Frame rate was constantly high and smooth. No idea how it plays on Windows however.

Generally, what we now so far is that AMD catalyst driver has an issue with VRAM fragmentation, which means that performance could drop significantly on some occasions.

nVidia generally runs fine, but you should check whether it has multi-threading enabled in the driver.

For Serious Sam 3 get this driver:

AMD Catalyst™ OpenGL 4.3 Beta Driver

It solved all issues for me, and gave a great performance boost.

I actually have a Nvidia GeForce card, so that driver doesn't apply to me. Still, it's nice to know that AMD is improving their linux user experience.

In that case I think it will run great.
