UT2K4 32bit on ubuntu 64bit no sound.
hi,

i would like to get the 32bit version running with sound on my 64bit ubuntu machine so i can add it to steam and use the overlay while playing, which of course dose not work with the 64bit version of UT2K4.

so far i could only get the 64bit version wokring with sound after changing in the "System" folder of the game, the libSDL-1.2.so.0 and openal.so with newer ones, i found on on the net and also added libstdc++.so.5 into the "System" folder of UT2K4, without it, it wouldnt even start. all these libs are 64bit and everything works fine.

now when i do the same with the 32bit version of UT2K4 replacing these libs with their 32bit version, the game starts, but has no sound. i'm really not a linux expert, so i dont know any further. maybe i need to add some more 32bit libs in the "System" folder? had anyone any success doing this?

thanks, richard

Hi, after reading your post I remembered I have UT2004 installed (totally forgot!) and just added the 64bit version to Steam without problems, and with sound working fine. I'm in chakra 64bits though, don't know what you may need to add in Ubuntu but it can definitly be made to work, good luck!

the 64bit version works fine too, as i described above, but i cant use the overlay because the overlay only works on 32 bit games.

I hope the Linux versions of the UT series will be available. I miss playing them.
