[BUG] Killing Floor - Bugged textures on BioticsLab
Hey guys. When I load up the map called BioticsLab, the floor textures as well as a few more are bugged. When I shine a flashlight on the broken textures, it makes a black square.

Check out my Killing Floor screenshots to see what I mean.

System Info:
Disto: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-Bit
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.8GHz (Multithreading Enabled)
Memory: 16GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM

I also have similar graphical weirdness, including:
- Scrakes are invisible
- Stalkers are not invisible
- Some textures are just generally not displayed correctly or missing.
But the most strange I noticed, was having an area from a Red Orchestra map depicted in the far windows on the 'West London' map. crazy! 8¬)

It's all over these forums, seems to be nvidia related. I even think the developer who's porting it (icculus) commented on it.

I definitely do NOT think that it is Nvidia releated, i wrote icculus and tripwireinteractive (via contact on website) what i found out and no response. What i think is that the game has got an ISNVIDIA check that only works for Direct3D as it changes the rendering pass in some ways. I would just disable that check completely on Linux, you see the OpenGL bugs on Nvidia cards on Win as well. As i own AMD and Nvidia cards i used apitrace and recorded a trace with both cards and played it back on every card. There is no rendering error at all when you playback the AMD recording on Nvidia - so it is only a bug inside the game. And of course you get the missing textures as well on AMD when you play the Nvidia trace there.

I'd hate to necropost a 2 month thread, but is there a fix for this? It kinda ticks me off that these game-breaking issues are being basically ignored.

Well maybe somebody should post a link to this thread or so in the tripwire forum. I did not register there but tried it via contact form and email.

I'm sure that the dev's are well aware of the issue, cause its been reported a LOT. Its just that it hasn't been fixed yet, or even say that they are TRYING to fix it. Was hoping maybe there was some end-user fix i could apply by now at least.

They're probably too busy adding a fresh coat of gold paint to their next weaponpack.

It shows that some levels have got serious performance issues on Linux. They are MUCH faster on Win.

I think this isn't NVIDIA related, I'm running KF trhough Wine (due to the perk leveling bug on servers with whitelisted mutators), and there is NOT texture bugs at all. Seems that tripwire isn't doing a good support to other OS, which is sad because I love this game.

The problem are not the nvidia drivers but nvidia optimisations for opengl that should be only for d3d. But you can even use opengl with the win version when you change the config file (thats what i did for benchmarks).

This is Nvidia specific, on AMD cards the game doesn't really work at all(read looks great, but only 10 fps).

so I did some personal testing of these so called "fixes" and I can report that theres definitely an improvement. Most textures in the levels seemed to be fixed. Some of the enemies are still missing textures, such as husk, scrakes, and stalkers. The "OMG IM BLIND CAUSE I JUST TOOK DAMAGE" bug seems to be much better than before, but theres still issues. Also, why does the level get temporarily brighter when i take damage?

Exactly, yes, sorry, it 'is' mostly all still broken for me.... (like your tests above) . But still an improvment.

Steamland still gives me minus 900 billion FPS.
