I experience some random crashes when changing "map", like going into underground and back. But I didn't experience single crash on door opening.
No crashes here (5 hours of play so far), but every few minutes I'll get a 1-2 second pause in the action. Also, I'm playing window-mode and whenever I get a Steam notification (friend is playing a new game), my onscreen mouse disappears and my 'wasd' buttons stop working until the notification goes away.

yea that happens to me too. still the crashes annoy me the most
Just got the crash opening a door - this is the first time I've experienced it, but also the first time I've tried playing the game full screen - and the crash came minutes into that attempt. Do you play it fullscreen?

I'm going to go back to playing windowed mode and see if it happens again. If not, at least we've narrowed down the fault.
yea playing fullscreen. will also try to play it on windowed. thanks, I hope this helps me
I occasionally CtD when opening doors in Windowed mode. Typically, opening a door has a noticeable load time with it but the crashes are instant.
nope. crashing in window mode too
I have the same problem.

The game crashes randomly when a door is opened. It doesn't seem to occur until you reach level 4 of the dungeon, but then I get crashes on about one door in ten. This has happened over several different games.

In case it has something to do with specific skills, I have swordplay 6, dual-wielding 5, artful dodging 1, master at arms 1, mathematic 1, perception 1, assassination 3. I think the last skill I upgraded to before the crashes started was dual-wielding 6.

It only seems to occur when opening a door into an unknown area. Opening and closing the same set of doors repeatedly doesn't trigger the crash.

Starting steam from the terminal results in the following output on a crash:
Monster takes 83 damage by the player ; HP -42 / 41 total xp: 4269 attempting to damage object: StoreStats - success total xp: 4301 Segmentation fault (core dumped) Game removed: AppID 98800 "Dungeons of Dredmor", ProcID 10507 saving roaming config store to 'sharedconfig.vdf' roaming config store 2 saved successfully
So, nothing useful (the "damage object" was a barrel I smashed immediately before trying to open a door). The XP increase may have been due to me picking a lock on the door - I didn't notice if that happened or not.

I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu 12.10 with the latest Catalyst beta drivers, using the Unity desktop. System specs as follows:

If there's anything else I can do in terms of logs or providing crash dumps, let me know what's required and how to get it.

Further notes to my post above.

First, it happens with both locked and unlocked doors.

Second, the bug is not repeatable. That is, I saved a game immediately outside a door that then triggered the crash when I then tried to open it. On reloading, the game didn't crash when I opened the door. I mention this because on the Gaslamp forums I see people are discussing a very similar bug, which apparently is reproducible, in that a specific door will always trigger a crash.

I'm starting to experience the same thing. Running Mint 64. Crashes when I open a door and is not repeatable.
Same, crashes alot when you go through doors or go through that dimensional generator.

I know this is an older thread but I have the issue as well except it has been getting worse and worse. When I started on the first level it didn't do it, the second I think happened once, third level I had it happen about 5 times. It has always been when I open a door. After the crash I load the game and go through the same door and then it works fine. Then I got to the 4th floor. I found a code for the portal dimension and I wrote it down and noticed I didn't go to the one that I found on the third floor. I go to the pocket dimension and start through it. I get to a door I crash on. Load the game and the same door crashes me. So now I am suck in the extra code dimension and can't get through the door and I can't get out of there either. I have no way of going to a save where I am not in there. The dimension code I used was NAEWNPORKIICHA

I should also mention I have had this crash in windowed and full screen mode. I have turned on and off all of the settings and tried different resolutions with no luck. The door always crashes me to desktop.
One small note, when running from the console I get this output when I load the saved game:
(skipping the huge number of loading square lines)
loading square: 98 95
loading square: 98 96
loading square: 98 97
loading square: 98 98
loading square: 98 99
loading square: 99 0
loading square: 99 1
loading squa

It then stops at the "loading squa" and doesn't add anything until I click the door then I get:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Game removed: AppID 98800 "Dungeons of Dredmor", ProcID 2896
saving roaming config store to 'sharedconfig.vdf'
roaming config store 2 saved successfully

It looks like it doesn't finish loading all of the parts of square 99.

If anyone has any suggestions or things they want me to try or to capture let me know and I will do it. I really don't want to have to start my game all over again.

Solved. While going on the official developer site I found a note that there was an update for all platforms. In steam right click on Dungeons of Dreadmor and select properties. Then go to the betas tab and opt into the beta. Do not pick the internal test option, just beta. After it updates try it out. It fixed my issue.
Constant crashes after 8 hours of playing. I need a quick save button.
