Will Deus Ex: GotY Edition ever be ported to Steam for Linux?
I've really been wanting to play this, but I'd rather do it on my Linux machine. I've noticed some other older titles in the Steam DB online.... Has anyone heard anything about a DE: GotY port to Linux? A wine wrapper would be fine, at least in my case.

I wouldn't approve of any WINE wrapper at all since it's a very cheap and hazardous way of bringing a game or any other software to Linux. Every update of WINE can potentially break your WINE wrap which has to always be tweaked again and again; the time is better off spent in providing a native version which works in the environment it was developed upon. You could always ask the DE developers about a port; I don't see why not?

fwiw, i sent an email to square enix. i'm not confident anything will come of it - any other ideas about who to contact, i.e. a direct email address?

We can make signature petition. If Square Enix sees there's a considerable amount of people wanting this they will have more pressure for porting it.

any thoughts on how to create a petition like that?

If there's any publisher I'd trust to take interest in Linux as a games platform, it'd be Squeenix. Their Western publishing arm must be run by a hardcore PC gaming fan because every. Single. Game. They've published in the last few years has had an excellent PC port. Which is hilariously ironic given that they're a Japanese company that only makes console games themselves. If we're able to convince them that Linux is the future of PC gaming, you can expect them to go all in on it.
