Crash after clicking "Big Picture" in top right
Steam is crashing when the button in the top right labeled "big picture" is clicked. It does enter full screen (slowly, and without user queues that something is happening), but crashes soon after. I'm not seeing a way to give feedback on the crash dumps, or even begin to debug.

You have not provided enough information for this issue.
If this is still an issue would you search our (open) bug database[github.com] and see if it has already been reported. If it has, provide your info in a new comment.
If not, create a new issue by following the instructions in the https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/blob/master/README.md file.

Sorry. This has since been fixed somewhere along the line. Works rather well now!

Not for me, big picture used to work, though a bit slow, but now it just crashes.

I picked up a steam update last night (not sure when it was released) - and now in conjunction with Catalyst 13.1 binary blob, Big Picture no longer crashes.
