Linux games
Is valve planing to make some "new" game that will run with linux or are they just fixing old games to run on linux. And have they put date on L4D2 for linux ?
And I see they have forums for mac but there is no forum for linux.

All the old goldsrc games have been ported now (except for Condition Zero Deleted Scenes), but still in beta. Guessing we will see more source games soon after

OP, valve is making a Linux based console. So they want to port all of their current games over to it for the launch so people will have something to play.

I would be VERY shocked if they made a Linux based console and didn't make all of their new games with Linux support, that would be kind of stupid and it would damage the success of their console.

I think it's a fairly safe assumption to assume that valve will be a long time supporter of Linux, and all future valve games will have native Linux versions

They'd have to make a new game at all, first. ;)

I kid. I'm sure whatever they have lined up for this fall, or next spring, or whatever, is going to be a day-one SteamPlay title for all three platforms. They just haven't given any indication of what and when it's going to be yet.

Will we have to buy the Linux version of the game, or will the previously purchased copy be available for download in the Linux flavor?

All of your current games will be available to you when they get released, no need to repurchase.

Valves Steamplay games work like this:
You purchase them once, on any platform, and can play them on Linux, OSX and Windows.

Unless the ports end up getting done by a company like Feral or Aspyr who demand publisher rights and a cut of the sales, meaning that they have to be sold separately. You know, like what ended up happening with nearly all AAA Mac ports.
