Issue Report: FTL showing under Linux Games in library (Files for Linux missing)
FTL appeared under Linux Games in my library today. I tried to install it, but it's missing the Linux binaries. I don't know if this was added by mistake, or if it's in the testing stage to be added.

Here is the console output:

Yup, not running. After installing the game, the actual data folder remains empty.

http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/212680 was updated yesterday to include linux in the validoslist, which is why its now appearing in clients.
It does not contain the binaries, yet.

I just tried to purchase this game, it takes zero time to download and I get the same error message.

I purchased FTL a while back as well, but same issue trying to play it under Linux here too.

Guess that's what's happening with these games to.

Agreed, same for me. Installing FTL right now doesn't download anything and trying to start it gives the error "no binary". Unfortunately, I tried to verify the game cache and now steam hangs. Guess I'll have to kill it.

When I look at the game directory, I find only the soundtrack, and none of the game binaries.

Nope, I don't see FTL in my library.

I can confirm the problem. My Folder is completely empty, even after verifying them.

As a temporary solution I just downloaded it manually and then copy and pasted it into the steam folder.

I took the time to email the FTL developers and here is the response.

It should be on Steam within a day or two for Linux. I apologise for the delay.

Cheers,
Matthew

I just got my invite to the Steam Linux Beta and this was one of the only games I had that was listed as 'for linux'. I clicked to install it, it indicated it had finished, but then gives an error when I try to play it. "Steam - Error" "Failed to start game (missing executable). See the Steam support site for more information". I understand Steam on Linux is a Beta, but to me this is more like Alpha behavior. If the binary doesn't exist, why would they list it in the Library? Furthermore, why wouldn't the error in downloading be detected before I click the 'Play' button?

thedaynes: Most other games work (on supported distro), I guess it's bad luck that it's the only game you have. Try again in a day or two, the devs seem to have a fix on the way.

Perfect. Hopefully it will work :-)
