Issue Report: Resizing Steam in Gnome Shell 3.6
About: I know im supposed to use Unity, and im almost sure with compiz it does not do this particular problem, but Gnome shell 3.6 is the new standard where DEs are built upon like Cinnamon and Unity, but Unity has Compiz as its WM. And as some of us know recent benchmarks show Unity going slower and slower, check phoronix for that. Gnome shell 3.6 uses Mutter as the default WM.

Reproduce this issue: Resize the Steam client using Gnome shell 3.6

As i seen there are issues with Resizing when using Unity, but not like this, wat i have is permanent and consistent on any moving border in the Steam client itself. I think because Steam is built for Ubuntu, and as compiz is the default WM its built to support it better. Correct me if im wrong.
Gnome-Shell 3.6 here and I only see the black part of the resized window. But after resizing everything is normal.

yaa it returns to normal, but this is visually unpleasing. And u can resize hight and width up to 1 meaning the windows literally disappears having only 1 line of pixels showing.

Same with gnome 2, it’s just the way Steam is handling its window not updating til user stops ‐ previously it jumped around while you resized. I guess they need to port window invalidation too ;)

Hopefully it gets sorted out, but as i seen in unity resizing is fine, not perfect but fine.
Resizing chat windows inside the overlay is perfect, though.

Use ALT + middle click to resize or undersize every window. (even those, what you should not normally resize at all)
