Issue Report: Serious Sam 3 unplayable
Multiple problems:
1. the same multimonitor issue as this guy: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/1/882965239646472124/
2. mouse cursors is not accurate, I have to click around 2cm below the actual desired menu entry
3. when I press W i move forward AND right at the same time
4. graphics in the intro to the first campaign mission contain very blocky rockets sometimes
5. generally bad image quality (no anti-aliasing)
6. lag and very low frame-rate

I didn't even make it past the first 30seconds and quit the game, unplayable. On this computer, I play with Steam for windows (dual boot) many modern games without problems.

Some info:
I'm on Xubuntu 12.10 with an ATI Radeon HD4800.

Same here. 2.75 FPS Oo
Also it "kills" my second screen when I launched the game oh and I got no sound but that's because of the my default sound settings on alsa.

Oh yeah, I forgout about that one - it killed my second screen as well. Had to reconfigure using amdccle after I quit the game.

I think you guys need that beta 12.11 beta driver... I'm not AMD user but that is what i've read on the forums...

How did you install fglrx on Xubuntu 12.10? Downgraded xorg to 1.12? If that's so, well, tough luck. I also have a HD4800 series GPU (HD4890) and the last fglrx driver is only compatible with Ubuntu 12.04. I am running 12.04.1 LTS with fglrx with no major issues (framerate in SS3 is similar to Windows).

Here is the latest driver:

Yes, I was bitten by this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1058040

I've downgraded Xorg using the makson96 PPA.

So I guess I might have to switch back to the target version 12.04 :-/ Curse you AMD, *waves fist*

Well, here are the last things I can think of:
1. sudo apt-get install ia32-libs and sudo apt-get install libpci3:i386 (if you haven't already)
2. close Steam, delete steam.sh from /home/steam and restart

How much FPS do you have in other games (if you don't have other Steam games, you could download neverball from the repository for example)?

Have you tried opting into publicbeta on SS3? Did you check for the issue with powersavings that was mentioned in other threads?
DerCed Nov 23, 2012 @ 3:38pm
iskeledz, ia32-libs was already installed. after installing libpci3:i386 and removing steam.sh at least now the mouse cursor is correct. all the other problem persist. i really guess it's 12.04+newest driver or nothing. i guess a reboot to windows is in store, i don't have the nerves for a 12.04 reinstall at the moment
