SS3 Black Screen
I'm having a problem with Serious Sam 3 and getting a black screen. I can hear the audio (sounds like a intro movie), but I can't see anything. Have the 304 beta nvidia drivers and TF2 works fine. Here's a log from Terminal during that time.

I have this issue if I install the beta update, but without it it's fine. Also, your drivers are outdated, you're supposed to be on the 310 series for proper game support on Steam.

I haven't a clue in the world WHY this makes a difference, but...

I have the same problem. I launch the game, and while I get sound, I have no display. I change to a tty (tty2 for example) and then change back to the X server, I immediately get a display. Now, if that tty is not logged in when I change to it, switching back to X doesn't do anything. If that tty is already logged in or once I log into it, then switch back to X, I get my display back and can see the game normally. If I exit the game, then go back into it, I have to repeat the above process to get any video display. Very odd.

Meant to say that I was in the 310 drivers, forgot all the numbers lol.I tried it without the publicbeta update and that made the menu show up, but once I get in game, all I see is the hud and blackness.

Looks like 3d rendering comes out black. Perhaps try typing:

gfxRestart ()
In the console.

Thanks for the response. The command didn't help but I did notice some errors in the console log:

I have the latest version and I am still getting this issue. Screen is all black except for menus and I can hear the sound. I tried this under Unity and then Under Gnome Classic 2d to rule out the window manager.

Try pressing alt+enter for windowed mode and then alt+enter for fullscreen again. Need to do that with fglrx and KDE 4.8.4.

Have you tried fallback mode on your desktop environment? Like run your desktop environment without any composition/effects at all. It's unlikely but possible.

I've the blacj screen isse too (as it was since the first day). Fix is to set the MAX 3D RENDERING MPIX to the maximum.

The next problem I have is, that SS3 freezes when

-changing from fullscreen to windowed mode
-change the resolution
