Issue Report: Chat only works with Caps Lock
Anything I type into a chat window (both in and out of a game) gets deleted after I type in a few characters. When Caps Lock is on, however, it works fine.

UPDATE: It now seems that when Caps Lock is disabled, my key inputs are being registered as keyboard commands (eg w = ctrl+w) somehow.

It would appear that a recent update (whether it be Steam or another package) has fixed the problem. Weird.

I just experienced the same problem, it seems to have started upon starting to download TF2 and gone away after restarting the Steam client.

I've had this problem twice now, both times I was on chrome, click back and after a short period, the chat window loses focus, go back on it, type - have to click to send my lovely caps messages.

I'm experiencing this today... started after using Steam for about an hour or so. It *seems* to start after I've switched active workspaces a few times. After typing about 20 characters, the line of text erases and resets. Potentially related, pressing Backspace deletes an entire word, not just a single character (which is unique to Steam, no other apps on my system are doing this).

Quick addendum, it's definitely related to workspace switching... it seems that Steam believes Ctrl is being held down (typing the word "I've" and at v, it pasted my clipboard contents into the chat message). Tapping Ctrl and Alt a few times resolved the issue. (I frequently switch workspaces with Ctrl+Alt+Arrows)

HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN'T EVEN WRITE THIS POST WITHOUT USING CAPS AND TAPPING THE CTRL KEY DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK.

I'm having the problem too but it goes away sometimes. it might be a problem with workspace switching considering I use it alot

Most definitely related to Workspace Switching. Only happens when I pan to a new Workspace with Ctrl+Alt+Arrow while Steam has focus - when I return to Steam, it still believes I'm holding down the Ctrl key. Tapping the Ctrl key once resolves to issue - no doubt by allowing Steam to capture the KeyUp event.

If I simply work in the same Workspace that Steam is running in, pan Workspaces using the on-screen Workspace selector, or pan Workspaces when Steam *doesn't* have Keyboard focus, the error doesn't occur.
