Issue Report: steam sometimes "catches" keypresses when switching workspaces with a keyboard
When switching workspaces with keyboard shortcuts (for example control+alt+right_arrow) and then stopping on a workspace where Steam is open, along with getting window focus on Steam, Steam _sometimes_ "catches" some of the keys that were pressed and acts as if those keys were held down.
For example: if it "catches" the left_arrow key, when typing into Steam chat, the cursor always jumps back to the start of the input box, resulting in garbled text as then it always puts every typed character at the start.
Another example: if it "catches" the control key, it then performs keyboard shortcuts when other keys are pressed - e.g. when typing the 'w' key on a chat window, it closes the current tab (the control+w key combination)

This persist even when changing window focus (e.g. switching to some other running application and back).
Pressing that "stuck" key while having window focus on Steam "unsticks" it.

This only happens to Steam - I never experienced this on any other program. So I am almost sure at least part of the problem must be in Steam.

NOTE: I am running on MATE desktop; Without compiz - my window manager is marco (MATE version of metacity)

This explains the perfectly backwards text I just typed in a chat window. This was on 12.04 64 bit

I have the same issue as well
a - select all (ctrl + a)
w - paste (ctrl+ v)
y - blank
f - search
d - blank
all the caps work fine.
Not sure why steam catches part of the change desktop keybindings when switching.
