Issue report: Window maximizing is broken
The maximize window button in the top-right corner does nothing when clicked. I am using Unity, which supports maximizing windows by dragging them to the top of the screen. This works sometimes. Other times, this happens: (the window should be covering the entire black area)

Neither of these actions cause any terminal output to be generated.

Steps for reproducing:
1. Open the Steam for Linux client.
2. Attempt to maximize the window.

Confirmed here as well on Unity.

confirmed on KDE + radeon
One more "Maximizing not working on Unity". Stretching the lower right corner also does not work. Maybe for the same reason.

I still experience this with today's update.
Which Desktop Environment (Unity, KDE etc) are you using? I'm using Unity on Ubuntu 12.04 and the recent Steam update has fixed the issue for me

I'm using Unity on Ubuntu 12.10 amd64. I just checked again, and it seems to work ok - perhaps I thought I was using the updated version and wasn't.

Same Issue for me, Ubuntu 12.10 CInnamon desktop

Same here, Linux Mint 14, Cinnamon desktop. And somehow it decided it wants to stay maximised. It won't even respect the reserved space from Cairo-dock. I also cannot move it from one monitor to the next one. The same is true for the "Finishing Steam cloud sync" window upon exit - it doesn't want to move at all :(
