[RESOLVED]Steam package out of date
After steam updated, it gives me an message every time it starts:

Your steam package is out of date. Please get an updated version from your package provider or directly from http://repo.steampowered.com/steam for supported distributions.
Does it mean that I should reinstall Steam with a new installer?

Yes, my system is updated. Just before this issue I had a problem with offline mode (http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/864956554584604403/) but I'm not sure it's related.

By the way, I'm using Ubuntu 12.4 with Unity and I can still use steam.

Got the same problem. When I launch steam in gives this error message. I press OK and close it, and launch steam again and it works. If I close steam, I have to open it with the same procedure.

Ubuntu 12.10 latest steam beta version, all updates installed.

This happened right after Steam updated. Could it be a bug in the update?

What steam version do you have installed? It should be 1.0.0.21. (look at Synaptic for those who dont know)

This meesage comes from an outdated script /usr/bin/steam

No, mine is 1.0.0.16 (in synaptic) so I definitely have to update/reinstall steam, right?

is this script in /usr/bin/steam? Because I don't have that steam folder.

/usr/bin/steam is that script, ir runs when you run "steam". If you cant update steam after repo udate, just download new deb package which should add steam repository.

After runing the deb (which should be the same from the link in the title), I stopped having that problem. It now shows 1.0.0.21 in synaptic. I was worried that I had to uninstall steam and THEN run the deb to reinstall it (noobing of my part, apolagies). This is resolved.

You sir are awesome =)

It told me to download the new deb. I tried and apt-get update; apt-get upgrade and it fixed the issue for me.

Odd, it hadn't fixed for me. Wonder why.

apg-get update didn't solve the problem for me. Downloading the new deb and installing it with Ubuntu Software Center did, though.
