Issue Report: Steam Does Not Launch
OK after the last Ubuntu update and Steam update, Steam will not launch. HD spins for about 20 secs then nothing. Please note that the new experimental AMD driver is in use. I think Steam stumbled before the AMD exp. driver was installed but after the new Ubuntu and Steam updates. Any thoughts???

Also... no error report, nodda, just no Steam

AMD 640 Quad
Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit
Asus M4A88TD AMD 880G Chipset
Gigabyte 6850 WindForce

There's the same on kubuntu 12.04 64 bit,

narcjkeee@narc:/$ steam
/usr/bin/steam: line 245: /steam/ Success

and nothing is going on.

If you want to diagnose the problem run it with `bash -x steam`
This would execute the scripts in debug mode and would output every line as it is executed. This may provide more insight of what is going on.

The /usr/bin/steam script is just installing the bootstrap inside the user home directory. line 245 is the one calling the bootstrap in that directory.

You may need to start the on your own under `bash -x ...` to get the debug log from its execution. (or edit the /usr/bin/steam and just remove the word "exec")

I'm running 3.7.0 kernel with Catalyst 12.11-beta11 .

/usr/bin/steam executes /steam/ which is absolutely empty.

The bootstrap should be in user home directory not in the file system root (aka /steam/ should be at least /home/narcjkeee/steam/ ).

narcjkeee@narc:~/.local/share$ ls /home/narcjkeee/.local/share/ -la
lrwxrwxrwx 1 narcjkeee narcjkeee 7 Dec 15 02:57 Steam -> /steam/

narcjkeee@narc:~/.local/share$ ls -la /
drwxr-xr-x 20 narcjkeee narcjkeee 4096 Dec 18 15:52 steam

Before everything was fine.

Also there's in ~/.steam/steam. It's also empty.
