running on Ubuntu 10.04?
Hi,

I'm one of those people who prefers stability over bleeding-edge, so I haven't yet updated my main machine to ubuntu 12.04 - I'm still running 10.04.

I was wondering if anyone has managed to get steam for linux running on 10.04? I've done some googling but all the results are talking about running it under wine.

Thanks!

Sounds like it's time to update to 12.04. I'm running 12.04 on my netbook and Steam is running on my desktop 12.10 with cinnamon with which I am "Very, Very, Very" happy :)

I'm assuming you have the Steam Beta. I'm not sure about dependencies for 10.04 with the Steam .deb . I did have to upgrade a couple of libaries to get up and running on Ubuntu 12.10.

You could give installing the Steam Beta .deb a go and let us know how you fair ?

12.04 is most stable Ubuntu release in history, even google is switching from 10.04 to 12.04 now (all their servers and half of the desktops/laptops use Ubuntu).

As a long time 10.04 Ubuntu user I can strongly recommend 12.04 at the very least :)

Trying to install the deb on 10.04 gives me a bunch of dependency errors, most notably multiarch.

looks like it's time to bite the bullet and upgrade to 12.04. Thanks!
