Issue Report: Freezing during big downloads.
I am have loads of issues trying to download my games on Linux, I set off say 3 items to download, TF2, TF2 Beta, Killing Floor.

When I come back to after a night, Steam is not responding, MainThrd is 100% CPU, and it says my games have about 20 hours left. Once I start up Steam again, they are all completed. (Running verify against Killing Floor showed it downloading some more files)

When I try to run Red:O it just loads the verify dialog.

I have same sort of issue on Windows, with Steam freezing, I did make some dump files of the Windows version, I think it might be to do speed of my hard drive? But more to do with the threading of Steam?

I'm facing the same issue. Steam's UI becomes completely unresponsive when:

  • User types in the one-time password sent by Steam when it detects access from a new computer.
  • Game downloads are in progress. As I write, my Steam is plain unresponsive since the last 15 mins, while TF2 downloads in the background (hopefully).

Yesterday night, Steam updated itself to a 10th Dec build. Since then, I haven't faced this issue. I hoped Valve has fixed it for good. :)
