Issue Report: Steam only looks at free space on the main partition
Steam only looks at the free space in the /home folder even if another location is added to your steam libraries.

I have the same issue. This even prevents me from installing TF2 so I cannot test steam any further. :(
My second steam library would be on another partition with plenty of free space...

Now I am forced to use windows due to this bug! I really hope this is fixed soon!

I just replace "~/.local/share/Steam" to new partition and run "./steam.sh" from new location", example (after moving directoty to /mnt/data):
$cd /mnt/data/Steam
$./steam.sh
after that I can run just by steam in terminal or via steam icon in application menu.
But if you replace Steam folder and run $steam before running "./steam.sh" initially it will begin installation of steam client again

@sorath Seems logicical (thanks :D). However this is a bug and it needs to be fixed before steam on linux leaves beta.

Yes, this is something very important to me. Personally I like having my Linux on a partition by itself with applications like GIMP and Audacious so then when I go to wipe my Linux partition on upgrade I don't lose much and can reinstall my entire setup in a matter of 1-2 hours. Not being able to select my 2nd partition which is where I store all my code, pictures, music, and games and is 200gb in size compared to 20gb in size is rather detrimental to using Steam on Linux for me.

My goal was a shared partition of SSD space for dual booting (shared files like docs etc). This seems like a simple issue and I hope it gets fixed soon!

That kind of works too. You just have to be careful, since Ubuntu 9.04, I think, ntfs/fat32 partitions are not allowed to execute files, so your shared partition can only really be used for apps accross 2 Linux distros instead of Linux and Windows.
