dual os system (win7 and ubuntu)
Hi, does anyone else have this kind of dual boot on his pc ? Everything runs smoothly, till I try to connect to a server on TF2. even if it joins after a few minutes maximum the game shuts down without any message. I am sure it is because linux have found steam in my windows library and it is using the same, but the dll for linux has been doenloaded so I dont know if I can run on both OS's the same source or should I hide somehow thi win7 steam library, and make another linux one ?

If you're using steam.deb then Steam shouldn't know or care if theres a Win7 partition. It sounds like you're using wine to run the steam installed on Win7. Steam should be installed separately on each OS. I don't think you can save file space by installing to the same spot.

I'm pretty sure linux steam does not care about the existance of a windows install on your windows-disk. Steam for linux uses steam binaries and stores games in your linux homefolder, which windows can't access.

It's a beta, still working out the bugs. Best answer really, do a forum search for TF2 crashes and see if you find something that works. Or just wait a bit, lots of bugs are being worked out every day

do I have to have installed the latest nvidia driver ?

idk why, but on MSI GX 701 laptops we can't rly instal the newest drivers, only whql 196.7 and older works great, cause newer cause freeze, and the newest instant black screen right after log in, no matter what OS.
