Has anyone tried out new AMD 12.11 beta drivers?
Anyone try out the new AMD 12.11 beta 11 drivers?

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst1211betadriver.aspx

one of the highlights: Resolves stability issues found in the previous AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta8 driver for Linux

I'll be trying them out in a few minutes

They're a vast improvement from the initial 12.11 beta drivers. I'm now getting ridiculously high fps in TF2. Setup is Radeon 6870, Ubuntu 12.10.

I wish I could say the same.
Performance took a dump for me. :(

I would try it if I could get the AMD installer to work, but it looks like I'll probably just have to wait on the xorg crack pushers to put it up on the ppa.

Ubuntu/precise 32bit. Think it probably has more to do with my graphics card. It's an MSI product ( R4350-MD512/D3) but it always identifies in catalyst(both windows and linux) as a Mobility Radeon 5000 series. When I try to run the installer on my system, from the CLI with --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise it just spits out a bunch of errors. from the GUI installer, it always tells me my hardware isn't supported(regardless of which version of the beta it is.) But on the other hand, the packages the xorg-edgers ppa releases work fine. I'm using the xorg 12.11 beta 8 right now with no problems(aside from the lack of being able to use steam. testing use watermark, 2500+ FPS in glxgears, all that.)

You have the watermark still?
It's an easy fix if you want to get rid of it.

Very nice improvement, works as well as windows except for Anti-A which drags down performance a lot, can do 8x on windows, can only do 2x and keep a good frame-rate in Linux

Which graphics card model?
Thanks.

Yeah, I just figured I'd wait until I upgrade to beta11 first before I bothered since it'll most likely reappear then. Saves me at least 1 reboot.

Also, if anybody would be willing to run the installer with the --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise option and put the deb packages up somewhere/send me a link to d/l them and I'll give that a shot. I'd say that the xorg-edgers ppa will either be updated in a few hours or by sometime tomorrow-ish either way though.

Here you go:

Before you restart after the installation you could manually sign the driver to remove the watermark.

The performance of TF2 dropped significantly for me, to the point of unplayability.
I'm running a 6850, on 12.04

Previously I had the had installed fglrx-experimental-9 from the ubuntu repository. (not sure what that means in terms of amd numbers), and i had playable framerates (75 but only on 1280x720 resolution) and now for the same settings its down to about 40ish fps

They fixed bug with steam crash on ubuntu 12.10 :). nice, what about performance can not say, because just gonna launch something.. will see...

TF2 failed to run :(
SS3, HD6850, Q6600 4GB RAM DDR2, got real low performance on settings abow low for graphic card options (memory and core). About 10-15fps.
Low and minimal appears to work well
Ubuntu 12.10 x86

Are the people seeing higher performance running 32-bit Linux?
Tarvitz 3. Dez. 2012 um 21:32 Uhr
SolidSteel, don't know could not run steam with drivers below beta 11 :), but performance still needs improvements, I think
