Are dump files automatically uploaded to Valve, or should I upload that file somewhere?

I can also post my lshw if necessary.

It's worth mentioning that I'm running Gnome-Shell as opposed to Unity. If it's not evident from the system info output, I'm running an i7-3770 CPU, so that may have something to do with it, as I know they're considered "higher end", and might not be as well-supported.

If the crash log includes a CrashID it usually means it was uploaded to Valve. This one was uploaded. Looking at the minidump it appears to be crashing trying to handle the joystick.

Do you have a XBox 360 wireless adapter or multiple joysticks connected? The patch for handling multiple joysticks (the wireless adapter reports itself as 4 joysticks) hasn't gone out yet.

If that's your problem you can either remove the adapter or add -nojoy to your startup options (inside steam you can add command lines). The fix for this should go out soon.

I don't have any additional controllers attached to my system. Just a standard USB keyboard and mouse.

Your mini-dump was uploaded FrozenFire (indicated by the list at the end of your System Information). I've also added your info to the bug database.
