[Issue Report] TF2 Crash immediately after loading
Loaded steam and did a client update. Launch TF2 from the client and it starts loading, gets past the splash to the TF2 menu and then crashes immediately. Steam seems to remain unaffected from the crash of TF2.

Unsure how to open and copy/paste the dump file but here is the terminal output and system specs.

I've got similar problem.
After clicking "Play" in steam, TF2 seems to start loading (blank screen) and "crash" after few seconds.

Re copying/pasting core dumps that isn't necessary. We are automatically uploading mini-dumps and the ID is included in your System Information text (see Dude-PWB-'s report for an example).

I don't quite see what the joysticks issue has to do with this, unless I'm missing something. Did you solve it by running that command? I did indeed try disabling "joydev" and restarting steam, but the same segfault and load failure occurs.

This happens to me as well.

I tried to add -novid to the launch options. It seemed to have worked. Instead of getting a segfault TF2 would complain about missing some texture file.

When I managed to get TF2 to see said file, it would segfault again.

I don't know if it means much but during the first segfault, after hl2.sh the number would always be the same and with the second segfault (with -novid) the number would be different.

I'm experiencing the same issue with TF2. Play, get to see splash screen and then crash, over and over again. Running Linux Mint 13 x64 with nvidia 310.14, hardware: i5 760, 8GB RAM, nvidia gtx 460, OCZ Vertex 3. Let me know if I should provide more info!

Same issue TF2 Beta opens valve intro, loads sepia screen picture then closes back to desktop. Client remains running.

Tried sudo modprobe -r joydev
Game gets to menu
Played some training and logged onto a server and played fine.
Although recieving messages in pidgin or steam messanger caused me to be dropped to desktop - game still running though!
