Issue Report: Flash videos do not detect installed flashplayer on Steam
'You need to have a specific Flash Player installed to view video content in Steam. Please follow these directions to get the right version for Steam.

You will need this Flash player even if you already have the latest player for your default web browser.'

This is the message I see. The directions imply that I do not have flash installed however I do have it installed.

i see you're running 64-bit OS, have you got the 32-bit flashplayer installed?
[TMMP] fenixkane 29. marras, 2012 14.52
Still seems like an issue that should be solved automatically since Ubuntu installs 32bit flash by default on 64bit systems.
Magbed@Linux! 29. marras, 2012 14.52
Yeah we know workaround fixes it, but i think should be fixed to use the 64 bit flas player or at least install the 32 bit lib on ~/steam
T0xicCode 29. marras, 2012 14.57
The best would be to simply build a 64bit client that would use the same plugin as chrome/chromium/firefox.
RussianNeuroMancer 29. marras, 2012 16.21
The best would be don't use flash at all. Trailers is already encoded into WebM format: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/1/882966056904075738/

+1 This should be fixed natively by Steam.

Yes, until HTML5 support is there, an automatic Flash solution no matter if you're on 32 or 64 would be great and should be simple to do. wget <correct flash player>, extract to ~/Steam/blah?

+1... 64 bit client.
Recoil_84 11. joulu, 2012 4.08
I noticed that the instructions steam gives you (when flash isn't installed properly) actually show a screenshot of selecting the 64-bit client for download. That was misleading for me (it's what I tried initially), but I already have the 64-bit client installed.

Can the instructions be made Linux-specific? They should reference that the 32-bit player is needed, at least until Steam can find a way to resolve this via dependencies or something.

Same issue, It's a real problem since it prevents 64 bits user to stream game videos before buying them

I am finding the download page Steam takes me to has the option to select different Linux architectures, but not other browsers. The selection boxes do not match what the instructions show for me, there is no "Flash 11 for other Browsers option".
