I can play TF2 with AMD 12.11 beta. Not with beta8. Unfortunately, it just runs slow on my netbook that I'm testing Ubuntu 12.10 on. AMD Radeon HD6310.

Runs like poop but it runs. I get anywhere from 5-200 fps. HD6850 with the initial 12.11 beta drivers on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit.

Yeah, runs fine on my system Dual 5870m's, fine as in no glitches, still eh... 50% or so slower than my windows side

Can't launch it. OpenGL extension not found error.
12.6, HD3870 - can't even install 12.11 because my card is not supported.

I have Ubuntu 10.12 32 Bit installed. As you already should know, the newest beta 12.11 (that is version 8 of the 12.11) on the amd website is not working with steam, because it causes a crash. You need to install the 12.11 beta 1 driver. Afterwards I had 30 - 140 fps. For me it was perfectly playable. FPS never fallen under 30 FPS. (Optimized Settings, set something to medium, just ask for my settings if your interested in) before it was too laggy to have fun. Played several hours yesterday with 26 People ^^. I am using an Intel E7400 (2x 2,8 GHz), 6 GB RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 6850 with Display Resolution 1920 x 1080. So you need this driver: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.11-beta-x86.x86_64.zip

Note: For 64 Bit and 32 Bit Versions of Linux there are 2 different ways to remove the amd watermark. Just google and you will find both ;)

I can get into the game, but due to a bug with the Steam client consuming 100% of one core on CPU, I get poor performance, followed by overheating, and then shutting down.

Your computer shouldn't overheat if you use 100% cpu. You should fix that.

I still have a problem with TF2 on Radeon 6850

When I launch TF2, it has a black screen, but I have found if I press "ctrl+alt+f1" then "ctrl+alt+f7" when I hear the audio from the intro video, I the screen starts working again. I'm not sure why it does this, but it seems to help with almost all graphical problems I've been having with the AMD proprietry drivers.

PS. I'm using Arch Linux x86_64 and Catalyst 12.11 beta

For me it runs awesome, like in Windows (AA off, there are some problems), drivers 12.11 beta, gpu hd 6870, Fedora 17

Sadly my AMD A10-5800K is badly supported right now. Stable drivers dont work at all or give horrible performance. Beta drivers make some textures invisible.
Serious Sam 3 is playable tough, good performance but flickering shadows and the alien spacegrft is partially invisible too ... :( :(
