Windows 8 Here I Come
Can't handle Ubuntu (Gentoo is my choice hehe) on my desktop anymore (wouldn't have been so bad if I could actually play something on it... :) Gonna stick Win8 on my box and start gaming again. You won't miss me anyway, I have a Radeon HD 4870 and 8 solid years of Linux admin/user experience (CompTIA Linux+ too :)

I'll bring word from the Promised Land ;)

> liking gentoo AND windows 8

The fact that you are here tells me that valve games + steam on linux was enough to make you consider using linux as your main OS.
That being said... are you really going to sell your soul to win8 because there were a few bugs in the steam BETA?

did you expect it to be perfect?
Wait for the release before you make up your mind.

someone give me the line of code to fix this problem

You and me are the same, except reversed. When I'm dual booting Windows for a game I can't wait to get back to Ubuntu.

Hmmmm... One post for Dansig... oh wait there are a bunch of screenshots by him, what are they for?

Counter Strike, Counter Strike, Counter Strike, Counter Strike, Counter Strike, Europa Universalis III, are there any Linux games on there? Oh look World of Goo. Well I guess it's back to Windows 8 he goes.

Well to be completely honest, back in 2005 I could play CS 1.6 and CSCZ on my Gentoo box using WINE on an nVidia 6800 GT 256 MB. It ran so smooth... even WoW played better on that box than in Windows XP. I just don't get why my ATi card has to have such shity FPS compared to that old nVidia card... I had such terrible FPS yesterday in Wine 1.5. I'm back to 100.0 fps on Win8 tho, so don't feel bad for me!

The ATI card is unfortunately the problem.

Personally I'd rather buy an NVIDIA card instead of go back to Windows but each to his own. Thanks to Valve I'm officially Windows-free now ^_^

This is ur only post ? .. i thought with all ur experience i would find some decent issue report or contribution to issues regarding steam.

Anyways i had the same feeling before 1 year, and i did re-install Windows 7. 1 month later im bak to Linux. The Jail windows puts u in just to enjoy games is a fraction of the satisfaction, the rest is just unrest and dealing with a ♥♥♥♥ty built OS which is unfortunately locked down. I like Linux because its built by humans for humans, and feels like it too.

So are you trying to fight back against having deleted posts by making more pointless threads and not contributing to your own discussions
or do you seriously just not learn your lesson?
