TF2 Menus and game HUD cause massive load (ATI 12.11)
Hi guys, I'm finally able to get into TF2 without segfaults and even get to playing games, but whenever the game is in a menu or respawn timer, the load ramps up on my machine, the fans begin spinning furiously, and after a few minutes, it shuts down due to the risk of overheating. Strangely enough, this doesn't happen during gameplay (while it's rendering 3D), I'm getting 30-60FPS (particle effects such as the medic's gun cause FPS slowdown, but that's a different issue), it only happens while menus or the respawn screen are active.

Forgot to mention, I'm on Arch Linux, Intel Core i3 2.4Ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon 5470.
