Serious Sam 3:BFE not working right after updating drivers with the x-swat PPA

I use an Intel HD 3000 GPU and I could run SS3 before I updated my drivers and everything looked right (horrible framerates, but it ran), then when I couldn't get TF2 to run right I decided to upgrade my drivers with the x-swat PPA, and now the menu is black, but it still works. Also, the intro with the gears just looks messed up. Anyone else having this issue?

My specs
CPU: Intel i5 430UM
GPU: Intel HD 3000
4GB DDR3 RAM

and I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome Shell 3.4.

I'll be testing Killing Floor later today. Hopefully that didn't break.
