Do the following:

sudo apt-get purge steam
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
sudo dpkg -i path/to/steam.deb

It worked for me, though I didn't have any success running TF2, only Steam.

Also, you should use the search before opening a new topic.

I don't get what you want with those commands. The usual case is that you don't have got 32 bit mesa drivers installed on a 64 bis os when you get that error. I wrote that several times already:
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386 libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0
For SS3 you might want to install this as well:
sudo apt-get install libpci3:i386
Would be clever to write that in a sticky post for users without binary drivers.

Thanks guys, I did all of the above and only until I restarted my computer steam did an update and started working.

That can happen when a steam instance is still running in the background.
ps aux|grep -i steam
Should not show a process exept the grep. You can use "kill -9 <PID>" in case it runs.

Do you know how these files might be named in openSUSE?
Same problem for me. Seems Steam is broken on Linux.

Nonsense. Steam for Linux works great. Try following the instructions.
I tried but everything what I'm installing is vanished right after that. I found out I need to install a prog called Terminal. Did it but I have no idea where the hell I can start that. So I cannot write these commands to anywhere atm...

You can't find Terminal (which comes with every single Linux distro since...forever) yet say Steam is broken?

For starters, if you're having a problem installing Steam, try opening your own thread so more people will actually see your post. Provide some useful details like the operating system you are using, your video card, any error msgs, and steps you have taken to solve the problem.
"Fatal Error: Failed to load libsteam.so" every time when I tried to start Steam on Linux (elementary os) means for me Steam is broken, yes. And finally I found Terminal now.

OK, after writing those 3 lines from the first reply in this topic Steam started. Thanks for the help.
