Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Steam use too much cpu
Steam (MainThrd) use half of my AMD Athlon x2 5000+ 2.6Ghz while gaming and not only TF2. This is a bug or steam need much better cpu on linux?

Known issue.
I'm sure they are working on it.
Oh, good to know this.
Idle steam uses bout ~20% of my CPU with burst as big as 60-70%, running ubuntu 12.04 unity and i5 mobile cpu
Stean uses more CPU than TF2
On my Gentoo amd64 Steam uses 1-2% :)
Same here.
Tried recently to renice steam to 20 and renice tf2 t -15. That changed the story entirely. Also, multithreading hangs the game up, or if using (with nvidia primus) PRIMUS_SYNC=1 shows black sreen from time to time, but performance increases.
Same problem here on my Gentoo amd64.
That make me something like that. But I've quit my game(Serious Sam). The process MainThrd is running at ~100% CPU non-stop. And steam won't open. Even in terminal, steam do nothing, like start and stop quickly(no output).
