Steam for Linux

TF2 Dosen't Load - Assertion Failed
Trying to run Team Fortress 2 and when I hit Play, the below error comes out in Terminal (launched steam through Terminal). I am running the beta Nvidia drivers (310). TF2 under Wine works fine, and i can play Red Orchestra and Killing Floor through Steam on Linux just fine. I'm also not in the beta if that makes a difference, although I was able to install the game just fine (recently came up in my games list).

Second. Exact same error.

I'm on ATI Radeon 5470 mobile card, Intel Core i3 2.4ghz, Arch Linux.

Running gnome shell (though the same error is present with XFCE)
Same error.
I'm on ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470, Intel Core i3, 2.1 Ghz, Manjaro (an distribution of Arch Linux). As a DE I'm using XFCE.

Did you try
LC_NUMERIC=POSIX steam steam://store

Still get the same problem as well
Are any of you using an XBox 360 wireless adapter? If so, try removing it to see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for the response. Just unplugged the adapter and then went into Terminal and did "sudo rmmod xpad"
and TF2 launched
Just wanted to say nice work! Just played the game for a bit and was getting 100 fps on high settings (without AA). Did notice that when I changed the settings to try and increase aa when in a game, it froze
Not using a Xbox controller still getting the same error as OP, tried the LC_NUMERIC=POSIX steam steam://store, aswell Big picture mode has similar error, but Serious sam 3 BFE, works flawless
Also having this issue. Using XFX Radeon HD 4890 1GB "xXx" card.
Not using any Xbox controllers
This should be fixed in the next update. You should be able to pass in "-nojoy" on the command line to workaround this for now also. Thanks!

Ok, all of a sudden (with or without this command), I am getting a black screen in TF2. I can hear the sound, but no video.
-nojoy has not fixed the problem.
Removing xboxdrv hasn't fixed it either. Still prepares to launch, screen goes black for a few seconds, then crashes with segfault as listed in the OP.
What fixed it for me was running steam like this:
LC_ALL="C" steam -nojoy steam://open/games
and afterwards also setting -nojoy as the launch options for TF2.
I think setting it for TF2 is not even required. I just set it everywhere to make it surely work.
got the same issue. none of the above helps.
i'm not using any controllers

don't know if it's matter, but i'm using ATI Radeon HD4xxx viedo
