Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Any news on bigger companies supporting linux?
Currently we have at our side Valve, Croteam, some indie developers, and nothing more I know of. We need more games, including so-called AAA titles. Does anyone know about any coming to linux? Rumors perhaps?

Are you REALLY sure about that? Because since TTimo leaved ID, I didn't find any Linux related efort from them. Do you have any link? Thanks!
They haven't released on Steam their already existing games for mac either and also denied porting Rage and DOOM 3 BFG. I wouldn't count them as supporting Steam for linux.
A few years ago I would have counted Epic (UT2k4 even had Tux on the box!), but I wouldn't since the release of UT3. I wonder if we could get them back?

They don't really support windows now, only the xbox 360. That could change in the future though.
Blizzard had a WoW Linux Client from what I have heard which was never released. Maybe if Valve turns out having good success with Steam on Linux they do some ports even though they clearly lost all my sympathy I had for them with Diablo 3.
According to phoronix, Egosoft is looking for help with porting the other X3 games to linux to distribute on Steam.

As much as I love space traders, I don't really think Egosoft counts as a bigger company.
You could see EA's origin come to linux but that would have nothing to do with steam.
That leaves:
Activion (who is still licking there chops at their billion dollar CoD game on windows and 360)
Bethesda (who is clearly in bed with microsoft with skyrim dlc),
Square Enix (Possibly they do make games better on PC they are porting FF3 to ouya)
ID (that is laughable cause from the remarks John made at his keynote in this years quakecon)
Ubisoft (who knows but a AC3 port to linux would be super sweet

I did hear a while back but this might be totally unrelated to steam but Robert Bowling is deving a game for the ouya which is sorta kinda linux but not really

They want to ignore PC completely because of the usualy 'piracy' BS. Same as Ubisoft, maybe worse.
Yeah, as if you can't play pirated games on Xbox
Strange that nobody mentioned it, but Paradox will release Crusader Kings II for Linux, which is very good news for me. This is quite big in the stratagy land.

Also, Obsidian is a (quite) major RPG developer, and they will release Project Eternity on Linux.
Paradox Interactive? The Magicka guys?! Any news regarding a Magicka Linux port?
