Steam hangs randomly while installing Uplink
I just installed Steam on another box (Debian 64bit, Nouveau, using Kano's script), and while trying to install Uplink I'm seeing Steam hang every now and again with this message repeated over and over every ten seconds in the terminal:
Thread "CDepotReconstruct Decrypt Pool:" (ID -556266688) failed to shut down
After some time has passed (17 of the above messages have printed by this point) I also see this message (the previous message continues to print out every ten seconds after this):
pipes.cpp (561) : Assertion Failed: Stalled cross-thread pipe
pipes.cpp (561) : Fatal assert failed: /home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_ubuntu12_linux/build/src/clientdll/../common/pipes.cpp, line 561. Application exiting.
Assert( Fatal assert ):/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_ubuntu12_linux/build/src/clientdll/../common/pipes.cpp:561
I haven't seen this on the other box I've been running Steam (Debian 32bit userspace/64bit kernel, binary nVidia drivers, Ubuntu libc installed in package manager) on - given the machines are running pretty different setups I can't be sure if this is specific to the new box, or a more general problem related to the latest Steam update that got pushed out.
The only other comment I have is that the Uplink download was going really slowly and seemed to stop making progress around 7MB, then (after restarting the client a number of times before it started making progress again) stopped again at around 17MB. I've just restarted the client again and it completed.
